Liaison offices are representatives of foreign companies that furnish services in Turkey under a parent company on the condition that their activities are limited to a certain period of time.
Liaison offices are not allowed to engage in commercial activities or issue bills.
The Ministry of Economy is the body authorized to grant permits and extend the periods thereof to open a liaison office in Turkey, on the condition not to engage in any commercial activity.
CONDITIONS TO OPEN A LIAISON OFFICE:
- Have a company status: Foreign legal entities seeking to open liaison offices in Turkey must have been established at least 1 year ago under the laws of the relevant foreign country, and have the status of an actively operating company.
- Not engage in commercial activities: Liaison offices to be opened in Turkey are prohibited from engaging in commercial activities. Therefore, the expenses of liaison offices will have to be covered by the Parent Company abroad.
WHY TO OPEN A LIAISON OFFICE:
One of the direct foreign investment methods is to establish a liaison office in the country where the investment is planned.
